My dad bought me some material about a month ago so I could make Sarah Grace a dress. I finally decided on friday that I would make it. After two hours of battling with a sewing machine and Gracie I finished it. Yes, literally battling, I broke two needles, had horrible crooked stitches, had to rethread the the needle a couple of times, and said a bad word. My wonderful Grandma in the meantime was trying to babysit my crazy daughter who is draping herself in fabric, chasing the dog, and screaming because her mom isn't paying her any attention.(Thank you bananas for relieving me for a short period of time) I felt pretty bad, she also got hammered with a million questions from me. Long story short, when I finally tried the dress on Sarah Grace it didn't fit. It was as tight as a pencil skirt. I completely messed up when cutting the fabric and made it too small. Oh how dumb I can be! Later that night I felt a little more successful when I made a tutu for my cousins new little girl and one for Gracie for her night at "Boo at the Zoo". Its not a fancy as the one her Nana made her that she is wearing for halloween, but it will serve the purpose. So, onto my next projects, more dresses (I only pray I cut the fabric right) and painting a nightstand, oh and a new take on a chicken pot pie!
*I finally purchased the rest of Sarah Grace's accessories for Halloween, Judy, she is going to be the cutest princess in that tutu and her tiara! So excited for the 31st!

I am so impressed with your creativity. If you make another tutu in the future try using sturdy ribbon instead of elastic to tie the strips on. That way it can grow with the girls. (I learned this after I'd made SG's) You cut the ribbon about 15 inches longer than the waist. The dress is cute even it doesn't fit. Keep it for a doll dress down the road.
Ha I would have said more than one choice word if it were me. It looks cute. It's more than I have attempted.
My mom made the same dress for Mylee. How funny. Looks like you did a pretty good job on it...
